Walmart announced on Monday that it is opening the doors for a salon service that offers a salon experience where customers can learn from a stylist.
The “regis nail salon service” will allow shoppers to shop from the comfort of their own home, shop from their own shelves and visit with a professional stylist at no additional charge, said the Walmart spokesperson.
Walmart’s announcement came as a surprise to many shoppers who had been clamoring for the new service, but the service will be available from March 20.
Walmart is hoping that the service could help attract new customers and attract more customers to its online store.
“It’s about opening up a little more of the retail space to bring new people into the store,” Walmart India Chief Executive Officer Anurag Gupta said at a press conference in New Delhi.
Gupta said the new model would also help Walmart attract more shoppers from its other stores.
“We are hoping that it will drive more and more shoppers into our stores,” Gupta said.
