Two patients died in Colorado over the weekend after taking opiates in an effort to relieve pain, officials said.
One patient died Sunday at the CO HealthCare Center in Denver, according to CO Health.
The other died Monday at a hospital in Fort Collins.
The overdoses were the result of two cases in which patients overdosed on drugs and died.
One of the deaths was an 18-year-old woman who was taken to COHealth with a suspected heroin overdose.
A second patient was a 37-year old man who overdosed at the same hospital.
Both patients were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The other deaths were the results of two patients who overdosing on heroin and died at the hospitals COHealth, Fort Collins, and the University of Colorado Health Center.
The names of the patients are not being released.
